Tonight we were looking for good Chinese food, and we are SO happy we chose Oriental Wok! To start out, we got there a little late... 20 min before closing... and they seated us no problem. The service was wonderful! As we walk in we are greeted by a red and gold archway, and water features with koi swimming tranquilly. It is beautiful! The special "beer" was a ginger beer that was just fantastic, and the lychee martinis were to die for. The food was fantastic! The best eggrolls I've had in years. I'm a real pot sticker snob, and these were amazing! They have a special of two regular menu options with soup and choice of rice that is more than plenty for 1.5 people. My partner got the special of the evening (orange roughy rolled with shrimp and asparagus and steamed, then seared; served on a bed of wilted spinach with a mushroom broth that was deliciously earthy!). The owner of almost 40 years greeted us and chaufferred us through our meal. He also made me a special dessert based on my dietary needs (Crohn's disease) and it was amazing! Basically: Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Well worth your time! A great step out of the strip-mall chinese take-outs of our time. ***** UPDATE: We went again this evening for a special night out, and were thrilled with the service, the food, and especially the ambiance! They were celebrating the Chinese New Year. Being Year of the Horse they had carriage rides, and also a mini petting zoo with adorable small horses! They had wonderful performances all evening of traditional Chinese music, dances, and theatricals. Definite MUST for anyone in the Cincy/NKY area! Still ***** * * *

The oriental wok was delicious and cheap. The prices were very reasonable for how great the atmosphere and service was. I ordered the beef and broccoli and it was amazing. I hope people stop here more and experience the great things this restaurant is doing.

It was just ok. Over seasoned and overpriced. The atmosphere was a little strange. Server forgot fortune cookies with bill.

This place NEVER fails to amaze! The menu is creative and versatile, the decor is beautiful, and the staff very kind and professional. This family clearly takes great pride in their business and it shows!! Nicely done!!!! Must check out the Sunday brunch buffet and all you can drink mimosas!!!

This is my grandmother's favorite Chinese restaurant for good reason! The appetizers are addicting and the atmosphere is definitely creative. I usually order the lemon chicken and it's delicious. We also went here on Christmas eve when they don't have their regular menu, which was pretty disappointing. Bonus star for the owner and his antics though.

Convenient and good chinese. I prefer chinese takeout for some reason so I always think this is a little costly for my takeout fix but it is always worth it. Menu indicates what items are gluten free and they have canned soda/beer complimentary while you wait for your take out. The owner is always super friendly and the portions large.

I have been to the Oriental Wok several times, and my food has always been outstanding. I have been on a real scallop kick since returning from my Florida vacation. I ordered the Chinese Asparagus with Scallops, and I can truly say my meal was Scallop Nirvana. The Scallops were the biggest I have ever been served in any restaurant. The black bean garlic sauce that they were cooked in had an awesome flavor that I will gladly order again (and I am not that big of an asparagus fan). Oh and the Crab Rangoon/wontons are probably the best I have had anywhere. The service is great, the food is great, and the decor is nice enough to come dressed up, but you can come as you are at this place. This is not your strip mall chinese, so don't expect the prices to be that either. Your meal might set you back 20+ dollars depending on what you order, but it will be worth it. This is the best Chinese restaurant in the Cincinnati area. Try it! You'll love it!

The food is delicious, and Mr. Wong is so nice and personable! Their fried rice is absolutely to die for!

I'm not impressed by this place. I'm more disappointed in myself for giving it second chance after second chance after second chance. The first time I went was with a group of buddies; with one of them being Chinese, Mike Wong immediately cozied up to us, brought us the Chinese menu, and gave us free appetizers (among them being "Viagra Shrimp"- make no doubt about it, the guy is a hornball). The food was really good, but frankly, overpriced. I felt like I paid more for the "glitz and glam" than I did for the food. Most recently, I ordered carryout: szechuan chicken, sesame chicken, and potstickers. The great thing about the entrees is that if you don't want your chicken breaded/fried, you don't have to. Both chicken entrees tasted bland and were soaked in sauce. One plus was the tremendous amount of chicken in each entree, though. The potstickers were very doughy and looked as if they were anything but handmade, which is absurd for $8.50. There are plenty other options for better Chinese food in the area (I'll plug for Amerasia in a heartbeat). There are even more options for cheaper mediocre food on par with Oriental Wok. Don't think I'll be going back again, even if Mike kicks in free drinks and some awful, sexist jokes.

Seriously the best Chinese food in Cincinnati. The ambiance is fantastic at the Buttermilk location. Large, no HUGE, ceilings, and lots of late 80s luxury decor. If it's your birthday, they roll out the huge gong and sing to you. The owner Mike Wong is a serious treat. He works the room the same today as he did when I was a kid and he was serving me kiddie cocktails. On one Valentines day he stopped by our table, told some awesome jokes, and then bought us a round. What a host! Lastly, and certainly not least, the food is fantastic. If you are looking for quality Chinese that doesn't include a sneeze guard, this is your spot. They do not cheap on their ingredients and this makes for a very delicious and enjoyable dinner.

The ambiance and service here are the standouts for me. Lots of people have already mentioned the owner, Mike Wong, whose personality and charm definitely make the experience of dining here. The over-the-top opulent kitch decor is also pretty unique. I've had several different dishes here--nothing too fancy, but the Cashew and Kung Pao Chicken are tasty. The last time I had Volcano Chicken, which I really did not care for--battered chicken sopping with an overly sweet and syrupy sauce--would not recommend ordering. As a starter, the Crab Rangoon is really good and great for sharing with 8 pieces. Great service experience notwithstanding, the prices are higher than expected here. Don't think strip mall Chinese when planning your budget for this place--maybe worth it for some of the more unusual/specialty dishes, but a little overpriced for the standards. Also, be prepared for one or more gong-banging, happy birthday singing moments (I counted 3 on a recent Friday evening) which I find kind of annoying, but clearly it's a birthday destination for many because of it!

Been here a bunch of times, and always had a good time. The owner is hilarious! The decor is from 1980, but it works for them. This is not your traditional/typical chinese restaurant...which is good and bad. They're reasonably priced. Not my first pick for Chinese, but if I'm in the area and in the mood, sure, I'll stop by.

As I've mentioned in a few reviews before, I am not Chinese food's #1 fan. Not even close. I have no problem saying "no thanks!" to Chinese take-out. Oriental Wok has changed what I felt about Chinese cuisine. I used to think what turned me off was the food's ethnicity as a whole, since every Chinese restaurant I'd been to before (whether sit-down buffet or take-out store) served old, batch-cooked, overly salty, greasy food with flavorless starches as a side. My first trip to Oriental Wok was with coworkers about a year ago. Upon walking into the restaurant, friendly hostesses greet you with a smile. Then you get a chance to look around at this HUGE room with two floors of seating, a full bar, and lots of decorations. Now, this isn't your old strip mall Chinese buffet decorations of paper koi fish and dragons, prints of ancient Chinese ladies with fans and emperors with long mustaches, and a partially-functioning fountain. No, no. Here, they do it properly. The decor of Oriental Wok is ethnic and impressive without being tacky. Live koi fish, faux trees (I had to give the papaya tree a second glance before realizing it was fake!), music (that isn't "musak" or horrible renditions of modern songs), and warm colored tapestries. Before I get to the food, I must mention the owners. Mike Wong is a stellar restaurant owner. I've met him twice at this location, as he can regularly be seen walking around to tables saying hello and making conversation. He is hilarious, always cracking a joke or two! I challenge you to ever meet a nicer man. Okay, the food. It's great... what can I say? I've gotten pad thai almost every time I've been there. I know it's not Chinese, but I still honestly do not like 99% of the food in Chinese cuisine. I usually order egg-drop soup, which is delicious at Oriental Wok! Not too salty but very, very well made and satisfying. My coworkers swear that their hot and sour soup is the best they've ever tasted (I can neither confirm nor deny.) Overall, this is a great place to go for lunch or dinner, on a date or with a large group. Though I've never sat at the bar, it is rather large so I wouldn't doubt that the place is a good choice for after-work drinks!

For years I've touted Oriental Wok as the best Chinese-American restaurant in the Cincinnati area. But it seems they may have started cutting corners in a disappointing way. Yesterday my shrimp cheese roll had only a couple small fragments of shrimp. Portion sizes seemed to have shrunk. Worst of all, each entree came with only a smallish cup of rice, and the fried rice (which was no different from the white rice other than a smidgen of brown sauce) showed up on the check as a 50 cent upcharge. The check for 2 appetisers, 2 entrees, 1 cocktail and 1 iced tea came to $52. For less than half that you can buy essentially the same food from one of the better hole-in-the-wall places, like Peking Garden in Dillonvale. The ambience and service continue to be excellent, but at the end of the day it's really all about the food. I'm discouraged.

I've been eating here since I was a little kid and there's a reason I keep coming back. The food is always delicious, from the spring rolls to the chicken fried rice, I've never had anything that wasn't tasty. The prices may seem steep, but the portions are large enough to feed off of for several days. While the food is great, what keeps me coming back is the service. The wait staff is always attentive but not stifling and very courteous. Also, Mr. Wong is unique, funny, and gracious. I would say at least 70% of the times I've eaten in there, he's given my table something on the house; anything from ginger salads to free beers. He knows that giving a little will bring the people coming back, and it definitely has for me.

This place is awesome! The guy who owns it takes a lot of pride in the place so he's practically always there and makes sure that you're getting the best service. I love that you get to sit at the bar and sip a free drink if you have to wait for your pick up order. When they originally opened the place it was a night club so it has an interesting layout for a restaurant. I really like it though. It's very comfortable and it perfect for anything from a big birthday dinner or a date night. They even have a event space for company parties or whatever. Their servings are pretty big so when I come with my husband sometimes we split one entree. They're totally fine with this and even bring out heart-shaped plates for you! I've never had a bad time here. I completely recommend it if you're in the area (or even if you're not).

I am conflicted about this review. On one hand it was a really nice dining experience, on the other, it was just so-so. To be fair let me break down my review. FRONT OF THE HOUSE: 4 out of 5 stars. The service was almost spot on. I was a little confused why the server waited until his third trip to offer the dinner specials. By that time we had already settled into our choices from the menu. Otherwise, the service was very attentive, timely and friendly. The atmosphere was lively and comfortable. At 7PM there were enough diners to give life and energy to the rather large eating area, while it was not too loud and obnoxious, in both volume and decoration. FOOD: 3 out of 5 stars. First let me admit that my opinion may be a bit skewed as I've spent the last 15 month in Central China. I had read the positive reviews about this place and was expecting a little more of an authentic experience. But after the first look through the menu I could only find what seemed to be glorified versions of regular Chinese take-out items. Our entries (Szechuan Beef, General Wong's Chicken and Pepper Beef) came out quick and hot. The beef, chicken and veggies were obviously fresh. This was about the only difference I could find from a standard take-out joint. The sauce was ho-hum. Szechuan Beef was under the "spicy" menu section, but it feel well short of anything spicy. In Chinese cooking it is the freshness of ingredients combined with amazingly complicated sauces that make the experience something you will not forget. I have had plenty of meals (in China and in the States) that blow my mind. But like I said, this was ho-hum. PRICE: 2.5 out of 5 stars. If we are to pay twice as much for Oriental Wok as take-out we should get twice as much taste out of the food. Here I just didn't taste it. Overall we had a good dining experience and enjoyed ourselves. We will probably be back. I just wish either the price came down to match the food, or more importantly, the food would raise to the price level.

Unlike their strip-mall competitors, owners Mike and Helen Wong have created an upscale Chinese restaurant with stellar ambience. From the baby grand to the koi pond the meanders throughout the restaurant, this is a great first date spot. My favorite dish is the house specialty, General Wong's Chicken. Sweet and spicy, the sauce that covers the delicious, tender chicken breast is a twist on the General Tso's. On Sundays, Oriental Wok features a lunch buffet complete with made-to-order Mongolian grille. If you're looking for an elegant place to ring in the New Year, I highly recommend Oriental Wok. With a holiday menu that invariable includes fresh fish (the head-on kind, baby), the atmosphere is a low-key type of revelry. My friends and I were even presented with a free bottle of champagne by the restaurant's festive owner!

Food is consistent. Prices are a tad high. Service is very good. My complaint is that the menu is boring. There has been little change over the past 20 years.

First of all, I've been around, mostly college campus towns such as Rochester, New York, Iowa City, IA and so forth. The competition clearly weed out the 'undesirables' and they have fantastic places and more importantly, put a lot of TLC into the quality of carry outs for a sensible price. Best of all no cheap toxic styrofoam containers but the best and classic takeout boxes. I've been a resident of Ft. Mitchell for over 24 years and check from time to time the local eats. Oriental Wok haven't changed. Over priced unless you want to pay more for the classy, friendly ambiance and flashy atmosphere and less for the quality and appeal of the food. The going rate for a simple carry out lo-mein is around $7. It's $12 here as of 2012...ouch. While they DO make decent and consistant dishes, ( a must for those with certain food allergies ) I chose to stay home and make my own dish using organic udon, my own Berkey filtered water and whatever (yes organic) vegs I have laying around. (I tend to stray away from restaurant soups). I may check back again to see if Wong came to their senses to offer a separately priced, no party entrance fee take out menu in a few months.

Great ambiance! This restaurant was originally built as a exquisite night club/restaurant The Excelsior back in the late 80's early 90's. It was supposed to compete against the likes of The Waterfront and The Conservatory and The Glass Menagerie. The latter two now closed. Once The Excelsior failed, the owner, Mike Wong, changed it into his other restaurant Oriental Wok. Good food, service and great atmosphere. You pay extra for the atmosphere. A little pricey for standard Asian fare.

When I tell people about Oriental Wok (horrible, racist name aside), I have to tell this little story as a frame of reference for how amazing and classy this establishment is. On our very first night in Crescent Springs, my fiance and I had finished a full Labor Day weekend of moving and packing and driving and cleaning; we were absolutely exhausted and we wanted nothing more than some good ole fashioned Chinese take-out. We'd seen Oriental Wok's massive signs and lights previously and figured it would be our best option. We gathered our tired, sweaty, unshowered selves up and headed over, and as soon as we walked in the door, surrounded by ornate pillars and Walk-of-Fame stars, eyes agog at the unsuspected and unadulterated glamour of the main restaurant, we knew we were sorely out of our element. Except that we weren't. We walked in gross and disgusting to order take-out, and were treated just the same as the highest-class sit-down diners decked out in their casual best. The hostess we came to learn was the owner's daughter, and she greeted us graciously, took our to-go order and ushered us into the glittering bar area, as a pianist tinked showtunes in the background. We were offered complimentary mini-beers, which was just what we needed in our moving-induced exhaustion, and a little bowl of fried wonton crispies, which I'm pretty sure are laced with crack. As we gazed around slack-jawed in awe, a charming man in a bright polyester shirt came up and offered us more drinks; we declined and when we had just moved and were getting take out, he immediately picked up a Batman-esque phone from behind the bar and put in an for some free "General Wong's" Chicken to go with our take-out. And in doing so, the Wong family has made lifetime customers of me and my fiance. The gorgeous yet friendly, upper-crust but accessible vibe of Oriental Wok is beautifully imparted to all patrons, whether grubby and in a rush or ready to settle in for an evening tasty cocktails and utterly delicious food. Not only is the service impeccable, even when dining in, but the food itself is far beyond your standard Chinese fare. It's made with no MSG, and you have your traditionals like Beef & Broccoli and Szechuan Pork, but there are also luxurious fish and steak specials, and classic noodle dishes. Their Crab Rangoon, my favorite unhealthy Chinese takeout standard, is the literally the best I have ever eaten; no krab and cream cheese here, but real crab with a great blend of seasonings and smooth, melty creaminess. Oriental Wok is like a secret treasure we like to save to surprise out of town guests and friends who have never been. It's an old-school, classy and highly enjoyable dining experience, that just so happens to have great Chinese food to boot. This is the way service used to be, and is so rarely found anymore--a business genuinely pleased to have to have you as a customer, no matter how gross or un-glam you happen to look at that moment. It's a rarity, for sure, but going back time and again is always a pure delight.

What can you say about Oriental Wok? It's a Cincinnati icon! When you walk in, you'll immediately notice this is not your average Chinese restaurant. There are tablecloths, and napkins are folded all fancy-like. There's a pond inside the restaurant with koi fish. And most importantly, theres none of those paper religious prayer mats. Oriental Wok's dishes range from the simple to the extravagant. It can be pricey if you go all out. However if you keep it simple, you won't have to pay more than you would at other casual dining restaurants. Of course, all the food is excellent. It's been said you pay for the atmosphere at Oriental Wok, but if that's the case it's worth it. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and you feel like a high-roller without spending like one. They also have a banquet hall that can be used for receptions and the like. The real star the restaurant is the owner though, Mike Wong. Every time I've gone to Oriental Wok, Mike Wong is there. He's always talked to me, and he almost always has a glass of wine in his hand. Consequently, he seems usually drunk or buzzed. The exception is New Years, where I think it's a rule that he has to get blitzed. Mike Wong is a fun drunk. He may be the funnest of drunks. He will compliment you on your pretty girlfriend, ask how you like the food, and in general just be the life of the party. During a particularly large carry-out order, he supplied me with a bunch of beers, on the house. Oriental Wok is a good restaurant, don't get me wrong - but Mike Wong makes it a stellar restaurant. Just go easy on the liver there, bud. I want you to be around for many years to come.

Gourmet Chinese food. Pricing is higher. Main dishes are 15 to 25. Won ton soup was 5 and cream cheese puffs were 8.95 for 8. They were very good. I enjoyed the sesame shrimp and my wife had the shrimp with lobster sauce. Giant Shrimp! My son had a bowl with noodles beef and veggies; dont recall the name. Also good. Nice relaxing piano player and water flowing. Owner and manager stopped by. Good service. I would give 5 stars if cheaper and larger main dish portions.

Really good authentic Chinese food. And it's only 10 min from the Cincinnati Airport! I can here before and after my flight this weekend. They have 2 different menus and also a lunch menu. I've had their twice cooked pork (spicy and okay), vegetable tofu soup (really good on Friday but then it wasn't as good on Monday (maybe cause the soup only came with spinach and tofu instead of napa, carrots, and tofu like on Friday), BBQ pork buns (I would not order again since I could even finish one..they were rock hard...def not soft like they're supposed to be. I think they over steamed it. And they only give u 2 buns for $6) and the Yang Zhou fried rice (pretty good). Everything is a bit pricy and the service is pretty slow. I had to wait 30-40 min for my food both times even it was was Friday night around 8pm (super crowded) and Monday afternoon around 2pm (pretty dead). And the decoration inside and outside of the restaurant is very odd. Outside, there's a statue of a pig pulling a cart. Inside, just as u walk in, there's a huge vintage photo of a married couple. At first, I thought maybe someone is having an anniversary there. But it was there both days I went, so it must just be the owners...oh and they do this really loud birthday song for guests that include banging cymbals and gongs...good think I wasn't too close to those tables or I think I would lose my hearing. Oh and most of the waiters speak Cantonese, which is cool, but there was this one particular guy who, when I asked him what's the difference between and Chinese and English menus, literally said "I don't know"....and never bothered to ask someone else more knowledgeable or apologize for his ignorance. Also, how can you work at a restaurant if you've never even read the menu???? Very interesting. So, all in all, great Chinese food. Poor service. Weird decorations.

This is the best Chinese restaurant that I have ever eaten at, and the Wong family is absolutely delightful. First and foremost, the food is terrific. This isn't your typical cheap Chinese that is homogenous across most of the sector. At the Wok you will get high quality meat, vegetables and house made sauces. We love the General Wongs Chicken, Sesame Shrimp and Sea Bass. The crab ragoons and egg rolls are the best on the planet as well. In addition to many fine meals, the family does a terrific job with large group events and has supported many charitable causes within the region. This is a can't miss restaurant in NKY.

Food is USUALLY pretty great. If I had a choice for Chinese cuisine in an upscale environment I would choose this place everytime. They have featured offers each night and the standbys are great as well. I like to come here and order the grouper wrapped around asparagus with a light sauce. The Koi ponds are neat and this place is very enjoyable for a date or family dinner. The owner is always hospitable, always visible, always talks to you no mater who you are. There is a lot of pride here and I'm happy to support this business.

I had my first experience at Oriental Wok this weekend. The atmosphere of the restaurant exceeded my expectations. It was big and authentically oriental inside. We attended a party so we were served a buffet style lunch. It was very good, but didn't blow me out of the water. I am sure their menu items would follow suit with the buffet food. Overall very good experience and the owner of the place had an outgoing colorful personality that really showed he loves what he does. If you're looking for good oriental food on Buttermilk Pike you can not go wrong with the Oriental Wok!

I had a great time at Oriental Wok. The atmosphere is great. The pot stickers were delicious. And other items like the chicken and broccoli were legitimate. I was a happy first timer here. The owner, Mr. Wong, came to our table a few times to check in. It was thoughtful and the place seems well run and organized. Our server was really nice and she said that had 100 people working, wow!

I took my mother out for dinner and she was looking for a new chinese restaurant to check out, so I Yelped and came up with the Oriental Wok. We walked in and we were immediately greeted and seated. The Waiter (I believe Frank) took our drink and food orders and this is what we got: Apps: Egg Roll ($2.5) average nothing special Crab Rangoon ($8.5) tasted the cream cheese but where was the crab? Not worth the price. Mains: Moo Goo Gai Pan ($15) added Shrimp ($19) This was actually pretty good. 4 Shrimp for $4 Meh... Chicken Broccoli ($15) was good as well and a nice portion size. Overall experience was pretty good. The service was overly friendly, floor manager and owner walked by to make sure everything was good. The live piano player was a nice touch since you never really see that in a restaurant anymore. The decor was stuck in the 80's but goes with the theme and the fish ponds were a nice touch. The only down falls would be the apps and the price, just a lil steep for what I received. Might go back for take-out if I was in the area...

I've been going to Oriental Wok since I was 8 and I'm 38. It's my father's favorite place to eat. When we were children, we would frequent the original location and my father would take cooking lessons from Mike Wong. Today, we had 3 occasions to celebrate - 2 family birthdays and my impending marriage. My father was upset that his favorite family dinner was no longer on the menu. So, the owner's daughter came over and completely ignored the menu and let the man order whatever he wanted. We had the Po-Po appetizer platter set aflame with bali maki, fried shrimp, crab rangoon and eggs rolls, 2 plates of potstickers, sweet and sour shrimp, pepper steak and Hong Kong chicken. Then they brought us out 2 huge boats of ice cream (the love boat to China for the fiance and me) and a birthday boat for the other two. The food is good but I think people come here because it's such a family run business and it shows. The owner and his kids are always there. It makes you feel like part of the family.

We recently had a group Christmas party in one of their rooms. WOW, It was absolutely beautiful. The glitz, the glam, and the space. It was perfect for our group of 100. The food is fresh and some of the best Chinese flavors I've had. The owner is right out there helping make sure your experience exceeds your expectations. Very classy!

Service can be excellent or a little off, but overall very good service and food is excellent. Love the traditional Chinese dishes as well as specials. Chicken lettuce wraps are the best, mushroom egg foo yung also so great. My favorite is moo shoo pork with plum sauce. Bali maki great.....oh everything is delicious. They now sell sauces so I can make great dishes at home.

Delicious and authentic Chinese food. The owners have been a part of the community for decades and continue to make amazing food. I bring people here from out of town and it is never a disappointment! They are now offering Sunday brunch and looking forward to trying it as well. However, it is a more formal restaurant and priced to match.

I cannot say enough nice things about the Chinese Wok at Fort Mitchell. I come once a year with a large dog club that has a show at the nearby hotel. And every single year I visit this restaurant at least 2 times. Every single year it is the same. Great food, great service, friendly staff and outstanding decor. The prices are good. I come from the San Francisco Bay Area so if you local Cincinnati folks thinks the Wok has high prices, you might be a bit shocked to come to my part of the country. Their shrimp cracker appetizer is off the hook. These things are thick and full of shrimp. You definitely have to share with 4 friends since it is just so big. Stacked tall and on a plate that has sweet and sour sauce surrounding it. Yum! I am a creature of habit and have the steamed salmon every time I come. Over white rice and drizzled with teriyaki gel, it is awesome. I have to add that teriyaki is not on the menu for a way to present the salmon. But I ask for it specially and they do not even blink an eye. Every friend I come with orders something different and everyone loves their meals. The owner, Mr Wong, is hysterical. Does this guy ever have a bad day? I don't think so. He loves his restaurant and loves his clients. The place is amazing inside. Tall ceilings, wonderful decor and koi ponds that surround the patrons. The bathroom has a TV in it and there is a piano player there even during week days. I love this place !!

It was Friday so we had to have seafood/fish for dinner. My son picked Pan Fried Noodles with shrimp while my wife and myself picked from their "authentic Chinese menu" (which you have to sometimes request). We picked steamed fish (w/c was sea bass garnished with salmon and some veggies) and Gai lan (Chinese lettuce) for our veggies, and Mike Wong recommended a seafood soup which was sort of an egg drop soup with generous amounts of fish (i think it was sea bass), We enjoyed our dinner. We liked the fact that what we had was not an "Americanized" Chinese dinner. Everything was very delicious and oriental in a true sense.

This is one of my favorite chinese restaurants in the united states, it could even hold its own with the ones in california. I did go back and forth on the star rating as I don't give out 5-star reviews easily or lightly. But my most recent trip (4 days ago) was fantastic so I decided to go with 5 stars. Further, and I'll put this in the top of the review since it's important to a lot of people but this place has a great beer menu. They don't have a ton of different beers but what they have are smart selections from a variety of different types. They have your standard bud light but then they also have beers like Green Flash IPA which is not commonly found in chinese restaurants. The owner told my dad (who is quiet a beer fanatic) that he has his son-in-law select the beers because he knows more about them than he (the owner) does. Smart man as his son-in-law has good taste. If you're looking for good chinese AND good beer then this place is definitely somewhere you should try. This place is not cheap although I would call it average and definitely worth it. I was surprised at the number of people complaining about the prices. The portions are HUGE and the quality is better than your average chinese place. Service is good and I like the decor even if it is a bit over the top. Perhaps if your goal is to get dinner as cheaply as possible this is not your place. But if you want to experience good chinese food it's definitely worth a try. Background/disclaimer: I do not live in the area so I don't know what else is out there instead my family makes a point to try and stop here every time we are driving by on I-75. We have been coming on and off for about 15-20 years but I do think it has gotten better in the past 2-3 years. I've had excellent chinese living in california for years and during 2 trips to China so I feel like I am a pretty good judge of Chinese food. This place is good, perhaps not equal to the experience in actual china but that's not a realistic expectation. This place does cater slightly to american tastes -being in the middle of kentucky what do you expect? Their dishes are not particularly spicy (which I personally like being a wimp in that department) but I am almost certain if you asked them to make it extra spicy they would be happy to accommodate you. Most recent visit: I went with my father and mother on a road trip and had a great experience. First they have these fried won-ton strips on the table that are very tasty. They have been salted and have another flavoring I am sure but I wasn't able to figure out what it was. So much better than your average fried crispy strips. t had a dish called "Pan Fried Noodles" with beef which I had never tried before and it was amazing. The beef was cooked perfectly, quite possibly the best I have ever had beef at a chinese restaurant cooked (including in china) and there were so many small details including slicing snow peas into thin strips, the bean sprouts were super fresh, noodles done just right, etc. I also had wonton soup which was very good as usual and a spring roll which was slightly over done and a tiny bit disappointing. My dad also had Moo Shu Pork which was excellent. I have had other trips there that are more "average", still decent and still worth the price in my mind but not quite as good. Another random point - their desserts are also very good. Not particularly authentic or chinese but delicious. Had a chocolate mousse this week which was awesome but I don't know that I would go there looking for chinese desserts as they are a fairly random mix and not particularly chinese-based. The food however though is and the owner is super friendly (and not at all creepy as one review might lead you to believe).

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

(3)Reena L.

Been visiting this place since I was a kid. My wife and I recently had a wonderful dinner there. Highly recommended.

(4)Bryan M.

Best restaurant in Northern KY. Mike Wong and his family have built an incredible business!

(5)Lisa M.

(4)Arick S.

Hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants in Northern KY for the reasonable price you will pay

Great family history. I love how they display their old family photos and the way they decorate. The employees are very personable and the owner is very genuine.
